Trinidad to Harris Beach

On the way up to Harris Beach State Park in Oregon, we stopped in Redwood National Park to take a bike ride. We didn't find much in the way of a bike ride, especially a dog-friendly trail. But as I was riding into the parking lot, suddenly there were two 800+ lb monsters 8 feet in front of me. These Roosevelt Elk bulls had been relaxing in the dense green next to the trail, and I nearly surprised the antlers off of them. I stopped in my tracks, and they cautiously moved across the trail toward the meadow.

In a few hours of driving through the redwoods we reached Harris Beach State Park in Oregon. This is a gorgeous beach, with campgrounds a short walk away. We found some weird berries growing there that looked like blackberries but were orange. We asked a young girl what they were, and she replied, "those are never-ever berries, which means you should never-ever eat them". This came as a surprise because we had been munching on them all afternoon. A wikipedia search however revealed that they were not poisonous, and in fact were Salmon berries.
