The escapegoat is sitting close to the ground as we have loaded it with 3 weeks worth of camping gear, water, food, and toys. Just between the cooler and the pantry box we have at least 100 lbs. We have reached our first stop in Trinidad, CA which is just north of Arcata. The landscape is much more lush than we're used to, the thick redwoods and ferns seem to be almost constantly bathed in the grey ocean mist. We were amused to find that just as Gilroy smells of garlic, Humbolt County often smells of fresh ganja.
Today is our 1-year wedding anniversary! I can't believe it's been an entire year since we had the best party in a beautiful place with so many good friends. As Robert Earl Keen sang, "The road goes on forever, and the party never ends!"
