Getting there..

Right now you might be planning a summer trip. You've got some time off work, and an itch to go see someplace new.

Once you figure out where you want to go, there is the question of how to get there. Our suggestion here at escapegoat is anything but an airplane. Flying is great for getting somewhere in a short amount of time, but think about everything you miss while cruising at 30,000 feet. From your tiny window, you will be seeing the vast expanses of land that should be under your feet.

It's a big planet, even though humans keep finding ways to make it smaller. When you drive, ride a bike or hike to get to your destination, the territory in between becomes part of the larger adventure.

Also, if you're driving, take the more scenic route. Take an extra couple of days off work and instead of beelining from point A to B, take your time and enjoy the road. A 5-hour drive with views and diversions seems no longer than a 3-hour drive with the tail of a Safeway truck to look at. The dollar cost of an extra day off work is soon forgotten, while your memory of a summer snowball fight on Tioga pass will last forever.
